Need to view the video on the laptop via the USB port?
I am a police officer and a thermal imaging " system on the roof of my patrol car sends an image to a small video monitor via a RCA cable (video ... no audio only). The signal is analog, and can be viewed on any TV and recorded video via RCA cable. I connect Panasonic Toughbook my system through its USB port, so you can use the portable monitor to display the image and get rid of the screen imaging heat (no need to register ... just want to see it) What I need to convert the signal to RCA to USB cable? USB Video Capture Card??
You responded to that category of you - you need a USB or PCMCIA video capture card, which will probably come with software that allows you save pictures on your hard drive. If you do this, you will not be able to connect the RCA "socket" normal "and unlike audio can not "split" the signal with a Y'plug. Cheers.
