What is the difference between Ultra ATA and SATA?
IM to help my friend to replace his old computer's hard disk drive is a Seagate Ultra ATA says, my question this is that only the odd name of the only type of SATA or ATA? and if it is only the ATA, it is likely that the SATA drive is compatible with the motherboard of the old pc? computer Dell is a pavilion? and the best of the early '03. help would be appreciated, thanks.
Ultra ATA and ATA are the Parallel ATA or PATA. Noboby never called PATA until tho they came out of the newere Serial ATA (SATA). But long story short: No, they are not compatible.
